I had to laugh, driving from Mooloolaba the other day. I was stopped at a roundabout, looking right was a large wagon with two swimming pools on it. Now you don’t see that everyday, even where I live on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland, Australia.
A far cry from the sight I used to see in Bolton near Manchester where I lived for over thirty years before immigrating. Life is very different in Queensland, the ‘ go’ is up early and to bed early something I would have laughed at in my UK days. If someone had said you will be going for a walk on the beach at 5.30am and in bed at 9ish I would have laughed it off and said ‘ that will never be me’ – well it is!!

The leaving party!

Two years on and applying for Australian Citizenship all the hard work, effort and self doubt is coming to the realization that ñ BY GOLLY IT IS WORTH IT.

I’ve found in all areas of Queensland, there are lots of immigrants from the UK, lots of Kiwis from New Zealand and many South Africans so making friends is relatively easy as so many people are new to the area, and in the same boat as you are.
In fact since my Australian immigration, five of my best friends are all from interstate and have moved to Queensland from Sydney and Melbourne, they have moved for the lifestyle and weather. I can GUARANTEE in Australia you will meet some great friendly people.
