Parramatta is a suburb in Sydney which is best known for its history. It is Australia’s 2nd British Settlement and was established on 1788. It was formerly known as Rose Hill and was originally proposed to be the colony’s seat. This is the reason why many historic infrastructures abound the area including the Old Government House which is the country’s oldest public building. This structure is just the beginning of man other great architectures here.

For those who have the flare for exploring old homes or buildings, Parramatta is the place to be. Apart from the old age government house it has another antique beauty – the well renovated Elizabeth Farm House which was constructed in 1783. It holds the record as the oldest standing private house in the country. Apart from this, Roseneath House and St. Patrick’s Cathedrals are some other old and regal structures in Parramatta that are worth admiring.

Many travelers who travel around Australia usually stop over Parramatta to see its wonderful sites. Today, the city has become even more popular among tourist not just because of its attractions but because it has become a showcase city for digital services integration with community living. It is Australia and the world’s first digital city. Among Sydney locals, Parramatta is considered a major commercial and business center and also a major central business district. Residential and commercial developments already abound here.

Visitors of Parramatta praise the city’s great titles. Another great title that it holds is being the home of Australia’s 2nd biggest shopping center – Westfield Parramatta. A city that lures   thousands of visitors a year must have great dining establishments. Here tourists enjoy choosing cuisines because Parramatta has a bevy of café and restaurants. At both tip of Church Street are restaurants which host al fresco dining experiences with a diversity of cuisines. There are also Chinese restaurants in the area.

Other than these wonderful attractions, it also has parks where people can relax and meet new people. One of which is the Parramatta Park. Another wonder nearby is The Crescent which is a natural amphitheater and is home to over one hundred twenty species of birds.

The city has some fun filled festivities all year round. Riverbeats is a yearly celebration for the Parramatta River. Other attractions in the area include the stadium and the city raceway where international and national sprintcar championships are held.

One of Parramatta’s major means of transportation to and from the city is the CityRail Network which runs from Sydney to the Parramatta junction. Another means of transport here is the ferry where those coming from westernmost destination are serviced. When going around the city, the best transport is of course by private car or cab.

A city that is economically growing must have great schools and Parramatta is home to many quality academes. Some of schools here include Arthur Phillip High School, MacArthur Girls High School, and Parramatta High School.
