Montville is located in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland and is a place to get away from the hustle and bustle. This historic town was first settled in 1887 and some of the original buildings still stand.

The close knit community is very friendly with a local population of about 350 people. Montville is a small town but it is still within 40 minutes of all the major Sunshine Coast beaches.

Nature is a big attraction of the hinterland. There are many beautiful bushwalks, waterfalls and swimming holes. Including Kondalilla National Park and “sense walks” for the vision impaired. Not only this, Montville has amazing views of the coast and inland.

Montville is a growing area. The main street is packed every weekend with many shoppers enjoying the numerous and unique stores. There are also many award winning restaurants located along the main street.

The main employment opportunities are in hospitality, retail and tourism. There are not many large businesses in Montville so most people work closer to the coast commuting about twenty minutes.

Housing prices in Montville are relatively affordable and properties tend to be more spacious than those located in the larger towns. The purchase price for an average 3 or 4 bedroom home on a quarter acre block is around $500 000. There are many vacant blocks for sale for anyone wanting to build their own vision. With the Sunshine Coast expanding the value of these larger properties is tipped to continue to rise.

Montville has a small primary school with only about 150 students. There are many other state schools and about four private schools offering primary education within 20 minutes. There are also many high schools close by, three state and four private all with excellent reputations.

The schools with the best reputation include Nambour Christian College, Sunshine Coast Grammar and St John’s.

There are many tourist attractions close by including Australia Zoo, beaches, gardens and numerous nature walks. There are many great family picnic spots at look outs with spectacular views or in pristine parks. There are many opportunities for rock climbing and abseiling for the adventurous.  People come from all over to 4WD around the hinterland tracks.

Montville is a great location for anyone looking to live a little out of the way.
