Adelaide has so many wondrous places to visit and one of which is Athol Park. This suburb is located exactly ten kilometers from the central business district. Its northern and southern borders are Grand Junction Road and Park Avenue and Hamilton Road respectively. It is also bordered to the east and west by Hanson Road and Glenroy Street. It southern part is made up of many residences while its northern part are mostly industrial consisting mainly of warehouses. Many homes belonging to the South Australian Housing Trust are situated here.

Athol Park is an ideal destination for immigrants and a majority of its population is comprised of such. Following World War II a huge number of immigrants came here for permanent settlement. Many may have moved to other cities but a huge number of retirees still remain in the area. During the eighties Vietnamese immigrants came here. Visitors usually become amazed when they come to Athol Park because of the diversity of its people and the fact that a majority of its population come from non- English speaking backgrounds.

This suburb is not like other suburbs where attractions abound. The best thing that lures visitors here is it peacefulness bringing the area a relaxing atmosphere. The people are so hospitable and the facilities are enough to cater to every visitor’s basic need. There are some medical clinics here located in Hanson Road and shops also abound in the same area. Moreover, it is home to Fawks Reserve which is an oval where local cricket and football matches take place. People here do their shopping at the nearest center – the Andale Shopping Center.

Since a majority of Athol Park’s population is retirees and adults there are no schools in the area. However, the nearest schools here are Pennington Primary and Ridley Grove Primary Schools both located in Woodville. There is only a child care service here which is of course essential for any community. Furthermore, when coming to this suburb, express bus services frequent here. It is being served by 253 and 253X and 254 and 254x express buses all of which stop and depart in Hanson Road. Annette and Alicia Streets and Park Avenue are serviced bus 252. On the other hand Grand Junction Road is also served by 254 and 254 X and 361. Knowing these bus services are essential for every visitor in Athol Park because by doing so getting in and out of here to other suburbs or cities can be extremely convenient.

Those who choose to live here can certainly appreciate the ease of living. There are many affordable homes for sale here most of which are bungalow styles. There are also other great accommodations here including inns, small hotels, motels, and apartments.
