With a population of over fifteen thousand people, Port Hedland is a wonderful town that is situated in Western Australia’s Pilbara Region. The Karriyarra people originally inhabited the place and they used to call it Marapikurrinya because of its natural harbour’s tidal creeks which have the shape of a hand. What attracts people into coming here is its open and tranquil lifestyle. The location alone is a natural strategy that never stops bringing in tourists whole year round.

As a city by the ocean, it has become a mecca for aquatic activities like fishing and snorkeling. What’s more is that flat back turtles and whales can be seen here between October to March. The town’s history can also be very well traced through the Cultural and Heritage trail where significant locations and buildings significant to the area’s history can be identified. Photographers love coming here not just to vacation but take wonderful images of great half meter to eight meter tides. This also makes to good fishing spots and chances for shell collectors to satisfy their hobbies.

The city has two major residential centers namely Port Hedland and South Hedland. Each one of these communities has services from recreation, shopping facilities, and of course cultural facilities. With this feature alone, it is no wonder why many who fell in love with its atmosphere prefer to live here for good.  Despite its population and land area, Port Hedland boasts of a stable economy.
